Inspired by subjects encountered during travel and a lifetime passion for history and architecture, Richard strives to capture the feelings evoked by a particular experience or to reveal some aspect of the world not immediately apparent to the casual observer. Following a career in heritage conservation, he has rediscovered the satisfaction that comes from artistic expression, nurtured in childhood by his mother, a landscape painter. Now, navigating a neurological condition affecting his sight, he finds painting, and the pursuit of engaging subject matter both therapeutic and calming. He lives in Victoria, British Columbia with wife Kim.
